Pop's Corn Contest!

Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

During Art House Theater Day at Pop's Art Theater, join us for our first popcorn topping contest on Thursday July 24th from 4-8pm! 

Do you have a popcorn topping idea or go-to that’s sweet, savory, spicy, or just plain weird? We're excited to try them all! Read below for the rules to enter the contest by either bringing a topping from home or making a seasoning at Pop's with provided ingrediants during the event. All popcorn toppings will be available to try from 4:00-8:00pm with a purchase of popcorn. Vote for your favorites, and a small panel of judges will help us finalize the winners! During Art House Theater Day we have special screenings of Tangerine (4pm, 6pm) and The Crows by local Tyler Aug (8pm) to go along with your popcorn as well as our annual poster and DVD sale! 

AWARDS - Additional Prizes to be announced! Judges vote concludes at 7:30pm. 

• Fan Favorite: Voted on by you! Will be available at Pop's until gone.
• Top Three Toppings: Will be available at Pop's until gone. 
• King of Corn: Topping that will remain available at Pop's for a year!

HOW TO ENTER

All topping creators will recieve an entry card to provide the name, description, and rough recipe for their topping. You may either create a topping with ingrediants provided during the event from 4-8pm on 7/24, or bring one from home. In order to submit a topping brought from home, you must follow the rules outlined below.

1. Toppings must be brought to Pop's before the judges vote at 7:30pm on 7/24. The earlier you bring it, the more people can try it! Any toppings dropped off prior to Thursday will be put out at 4pm on 7/24. 
2. Must be a topping to be added to our popcorn, not cooked in a different oil or on pre-prepared popcorn.
3. All popcorn toppings must be shelf stable and use only dried seasonings or food items that can be safely stored at room temperature for extended periods
4. Must be provided in a generally clear container. But a unique presentation is encouraged!
5. Provide at least a half cup of topping or roughly 3oz.
6. Be prepared to include a list of ingrediants or rough recipe.
7. If your topping includes candy mix-ins, it will not be entered for the top prize of being available for a year.

Imagine your topping being on the Pop's counter long term. Seasonings that can be easily sprinkled are encouraged. Think outside the box and we can't wait to see what you come up with! Reach out with questions to contact@popsarttheater.com
